Dr. Merlyn Clarke, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, LNC, has several years in family practice, as a Nurse Practitioner at Augusta University and Clinica Union since 2016. She worked as a Midwife for 20 years in the United Kingdom. During that time she discovered her love for teaching and family medicine.
Dr. Clarke has been a Family Nurse Practitioner for 5 years and sees patients full-time at August University- Corrections and Bailey’s Telehealth platform.” As a family nurse practitioner with a doctoral degree, I have been trained to treat the whole family, from infancy to the elderly. That means I can assess, diagnose and treat the majority of conditions that present to the clinic or online via telemedicine. I also know that patients with complex conditions sometimes need to see a physician or a specialist.”
Dr. Clarke migrated to the United States in 2010 where she was appointed as adjunct faculty at the Mildred Elley School of Nursing in New York where she taught the Licensed Practical Nursing Program while working with the Visiting Nursing Services of New York in the role of Nurse Consultant. She continued her academic work in 2012 and pursued her Masters’s Degree in Family Nurse Practitioner at The College of New Rochelle.
Dr. Clarke began her nursing career 34 years ago in hospitals focusing on labor and delivery, operating, emergency nursing, psychiatry in Guyana South America. She served as Assistant Director of Nursing at the Mackenzie Hospital Guyana, as well as a senior departmental supervisor at the St. Helier hospital in England. Dr. Clarke was a working mom of two while commuting to The College of New Rochelle for her Master of Science Degree in Nursing. She worked for the past five years as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
In 2016, Merlyn moved to Atlanta Georgia where she also was appointed as Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Anchor Hospital. In addition, she also works with Bailey’s Health Telehealth Company, and her main focus is on primary care including Erectile dysfunction treatment, testosterone replacement treatment, Diabetes consultation, Allergy consultation, Prescription refill, Birth control consultation, Chronic disease consultation, Skin consultation, UTI consultation, STI consultation, Vaginal infection consultation just to name a few.
Dr. Clarke’s past experience includes work in Guyana South America, the United Kingdom, New York, and Georgia in the community, home care, med/Surg, OB/GYN, Obstetrics, Adjunct faculty, family Medicine, Sexual Health, and much more.
“My passion is for family medicine. I am also focused on teaching patients about maintaining a balance for optimal health. I want the people of Georgia and New York to know that they can get special care online via telemedicine and in the clinic.”
